LEESHA'S LACQUER 'DIA DE LOS MUERTOS' COLLECTION SWATCH & REVIEW

Hey there! Today I have some really fun polishes to share with you guys from Leesha's Lacquer. This Collection is called 'Dia De Los Muertos' (translated to Day of the Dead), and each of the polishes is inspired by different things you'd see during the Dia De Los Muertos festival.

I have swatched for Leesha's Lacquer before, if you remember my Mermaid Nails, the glitter from that mani was sent to me from Leesha. Check out the other polishes I've swatched here.

Now let's get into this absolutely stunning collection! :D
(I took a lot of pictures btw, so this will be a picture heavy post. But I'm sure you'll enjoy it ;P).

**These polishes were sent to me for review.  Please see my Disclosure Policy listed in the tabs above.**

Up first is Los Ojos de Calavera, which translates to "The eyes of the Skull". So as you can probably guess, the dots in this polish were inspired by the beautiful colors you see around the eyes of sugar skulls. The other really fun thing about this polish is that it's a solar color, which means it changes in the sun :) The base of this polish changes from a white to a pink in the sun (photos below).

(Morning Sun)

(Afternoon Sun)

I applied 2 coats of this polish over a white base because I didn't think that the base would be opaque on it's own. I really like it over white, the only problem with that is that unless you're directly in the sun when you apply it over the white base, you can't tell if you're applying it evenly. I think it's a crelly polish, which is why it doesn't really self level, but I still LOVE it! :D

I also had the fun idea to add a sugar skull using the glitters around the eyes ;)

Vivir y Morir translates to "To Live and To Die". Since the festival of Dia de Los Muertos celebrates both life and death, Leesha conveyed that with this polish, using a black base to symbolize death and rainbow holo throughout to symbolize life and beauty.

I really loved this polish! The black was completely opaque in 2 coats and the glitters really enhanced the look of the polish. Plus the application was smooth and the polish self leveled.

I had a lot of fun with this polish! I swatched this polish before I read the descriptions of the polishes so I had no idea that it was a color changing polish. It was a fun surprise!

This polish is Cempazuchitl, which translates to the type of flower known in English as the Marigold.  Marigold's are a symbolic flower that are used in ofrendas (offerings for the dead). This type of flower comes in many shades of yellow and orange so Leesha used a color changing formula to represent the different colors. I think that's brilliant! (The polish changes from yellow when warm to orange when cold). And the holo just adds the perfect touch :)

I used 2 coats for full opacity.

Calaver de Azucar means 'Skull of Sugar or Sugar Skulls', and as you probably know (if you've seen sugar skulls), this polish has all of the fun shapes and colors that you'd see on sugar skulls :)

This polish was a little bit difficult to apply, mainly because of all of the big glitters. I had to place some glitters to fill in empty spaces...but the base was opaque in 2 coats, which I was impressed with, and I didn't care to finish it with a glossy topcoat, because I felt that a matte topcoat would really enhance the polish.

And last up...which this may now be my new favorite! is La Catrina which is a very famous zinc etching by Jose Guadalupe Posada. She is depicted with a fancy hat and also just happens to be a skeleton! She is one of the most famous skeletons and is recognizable to many (you may have seen her before). So Leesha tried to depict her as dark, but also elegant, hence the holographic, rainbow hexes and iridescent glitters.

I do want to point out that this polish is a glitter topper. So up above I applied 1 coat over a black base...and below over a blue base. I wanted to show it to you over white, but for some reason it just looked messy over white.

This Collection will be released November 1st (which is when Dia de Los Muertos celebration begins). They will be available in full size and mini sizes. Full size polishes are $7 and minis are $3.50.

If you'd like the entire collection, you can purchase the mini set for only $15! Which I think is a great price! And the full set will be $30, which is also a really great price!
